Terms of Use
Last updated: October 1, 2026
The short version: it's a forecast, forecasts can be wrong, you pay once through Apple, and Apple's standard license covers the rest. The longer version is below.
Agreement
By downloading or using Star Tonight (the “App”), published by LoRicco & Co, LLC (“we”), you agree to these terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). If they conflict, these terms control for the matters they cover.
What the App is
Star Tonight estimates how good tonight's sky is for stargazing. It combines weather forecasts from Apple Weather, space-weather forecasts from NOAA, and astronomy calculated on your device into a score, a verdict and a best time to look. It also shows meteor showers, aurora outlooks, planets and moon times.
These are estimates. Weather forecasts, especially cloud forecasts, can be wrong, aurora forecasts are uncertain by nature, and planet and moon positions are approximate. Don't rely on the App for navigation, aviation, or any decision where your safety depends on it.
Heading outside
Stargazing happens in the dark. Watch your footing, dress for the cold, tell someone where you're going if it's somewhere remote, and only go onto private property if you're allowed to. You're responsible for where you go and what you do there.
Price and purchase
- Star Tonight is a paid app: $2.99 (US) once, through the App Store. Prices in other regions are set by Apple and shown before you buy.
- There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.
- Payment is handled by Apple. Refunds follow Apple's policies and are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- You can reinstall the App on devices signed in to the same Apple ID at no extra charge.
Third-party data
The App depends on services we don't run, including Apple Weather and NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center. If one of them is down or changes, parts of the App may stop working until we can fix it. How your information is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Don't reverse engineer, resell, or interfere with the App, and don't use it in a way that breaks the law or Apple's terms. Share cards you create are yours to post wherever you like.
No warranty; limitation of liability
The App is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties and are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any amount exceeding what you paid for the App. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Changes and termination
We may update the App or these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. We may discontinue the App at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
